Late in the wake of Blizzcon last month, I've
finally gotten around to posting this piece which I painted for the
event. It appears on a metal lunchbox and flask....Now you too can
impress the lunchtime crowds with this useful piece of Blizzard merchandise
:)

These characters are really cool to paint! Tychus
in particular is such an awesome design, I'm not sure I'd ever get
bored working on this stuff.
Magic card update :-
It's been a typically long interlude since the
last update, during which I had the good fortune to be invited to
sign cards at a Magic GP event in Kobe, Japan. This had to be one
of the most interesting signing experiences to date, exotic venue,
fantastic people, great event all round. Huge thanks to Ron Foster
for organising, translating and hosting services, and generally being
a cultural guru. Part of the reason for this trip being so enjoyable
was that it happened to be my second time signing cards alongside
Chippy (the first was Pro Tour London in 2005), you can read a far
more comprehensive account of the event from our perspective on his
blog - Chippywork
- .
One of the things I have to comment on was the
generosity of the Japanese fans. Of particular interest were several
3D cards, beautifully hand crafted and fully framed up, given to both
Chippy and myself. I've tried to photograph them and realised it's
almost impossible to capture the effect of seeing these things in
the flesh, so to speak. Anyhow, here's my attempt:-
The craftsmen involved, Ohkubo Seishirou san,
Masanobu Kondoiu san and Yunsuke Yamamoto san. Thanks to all!!! -
Once again, Chippy's got better photos on his blog :)
Here's a quick update of some recently released
World of Warcraft cards that I did way back last year!
Earlier this year I also did a cover for a childrens
novel called ' The Roar' by Emma Clayton, released last week in the
UK - I've read it and it's AWESOME! :)
I also recently did the cover for the US release
of Spaced -'The Complete Series' - Well, if you haven't heard of Spaced
by now then shame on you! This version has all the regulars plus guest
commentaries by the likes of Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino nonetheless....
....there seems to be a lot of purple in this
update.....not too sure how that happened??
er....Anybody still there?.......
In case anyone's still looking at this, here's
a few recent Magic releases.
As you might have guessed it's been insanely busy
around these parts. First off, last November I left A2M after 5 years
to start work for Eidos
Montreal on Deus Ex 3. I now have the honour of working alongside
two 'real' concept artists Barontieri
and Rainart,
both founding members of the illustrious Steambot
Studios. Needless to say the game is shaping up nicely :)
In addition to the the heavy workload at Eidos
I've been working on several large pieces including a book cover,
a DVD cover and something interesting for Blizzard - which I'll duly
share with you when released.
Okay, I'm a bit behind again!!!!
Here are some paintings I did for the excellent
Lorwyn set from MTG.
...and I've been meaning to post this pic up for
a while. I painted it for the 10th edition but it was never used.
Anyway, at least you guys can check it out here.

Also, for what it's worth, I got asked to do an
online interview with 2DArtist Magazine by the guys who run the fantastic
3Dtotal
site. For anyone who is at all interested to discover the kind of
nonsense I can spout when asked about art is welcome to click on the
following link (PDF file, Acrobat Reader might be useful...)

Here's the update for the 10th Edition set...
Sorry for the recent lack of updates. We've just
moved house and I've been trying to juggle some basic renovations
with family life whilst keeping up with deadlines...not easy as I'm
useless at juggling. As always, the site is the first to be neglected.
Now things are finally getting back to something approaching normal,
here's a few new cards that I did for the 'Future Sight' set for Magic.
(I'll be posting some 10th edition stuff as soon as it hits the shops)
...and these are a few that I did for the recent
release of 'World of Warcraft TCG'

....Here's a 'work in progress' anim I did for
the 'Rampage' Tauren piece above- it's a very amaturish looking experiment
but if there's any interest in this kind of thing then I'll try do
something a little slicker with the next piece. It's a 5.5MB.swf file
and you need Flash
to play it:-
*Apologies to all TCG purists for stacking the
World of Warcraft stuff in the same gallery as the Magic card illustrations,
to be honest I couldn't be bothered to create a seperate page for
them just yet as only 3 pieces have been released to date, life is
just too short*
..and lastly, click below to see a small update
for my graphic novel. There's loads more I could post but I don't
want to spoil the story :)......
